Selecting child care is an important step in the life of your child. You know the needs of your child and family. This important decision will make a big difference in your child's development, health and happiness. Safe and positive child care sets the stage for healthy growth and development.

  • Learn about different child care options.
  • Once you find a program that suits your needs, call and set a time when you can interview the provider over the phone (preferably before or after program hours so you can have the provider’s full attention).
  • Set a time that you visit the program with your child. Visiting a number of programs is highly recommended.
  • Observe the child care setting. Watch how the children and adults interact with one another.
  • Ask questions. See the checklists provided below.
