get started. Our staff can answer many of your questions about child care
licensing. We assist individuals who wish to become caregivers through the
licensing process.
For caregivers exempt from licensure,
we assist with the TrustLine registration process. TrustLine
is a registry of license-exempt caregivers who have been cleared
by the Department of Justice. Call 1-800-822-8490 or your local
SNCS Resource and Referral office at 530-272-8866 or e-mail
us for an application and/or more information.

| A Small Family Child Care Home License requires: |
- Fingerprints of the caregiver and all others over the
age of 18 residing at home. These must clear the Child Abuse Index
at the Department of Justice.
- Tuberculosis tests, showing no evidence of TB.
- The home must meet health and safety standards.
- Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
- Health and Safety training.

| A Large Family Child Care Home requires: |
- All of the above, plus:
- Fire Marshall clearance.
- Conditional Use Permit from local jurisdiction (county
or city).

| A Child Care Center requires:

- All of the above, plus:
- Specific educational requirements of staff is regulated by Child
Development Division
- Inside area and outside area regulation size per child.
