Watermelon Slurps

What You Need:

  • fresh watermelon
  • plastic drinking straws
  • zip-lock bags
  • serrated plastic knives
  • sharp knife for cutting watermelon (adults only)

What To Do:

  • Cut open chilled watermelon. Cut into one-inch chunks.
  • With the help of children, carefully remove the seeds. Children can cut with plastic knives.
  • Places seedless chunks of chilled watermelon into zip-lock bags.
  • Close all but one small corner of the bag. Insert the plastic straw into the open corner and push it to the bottom of the bag.
  • Encourage children to squish the watermelon chunks and sit the ice through the straw.
Watermelon Popsicles

What You Need:
  • 1 cup seedless watermelon chunks
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup water
  • popsicle sticks or plastic spoons
  • small paper cups

What To Do:

  • Mix ingredients together in a blender.
  • Pour into small paper cups.
  • Place in freezer and when partially frozen, insert popsicle sticks or small plastic spoons into cups for handles.
  • Continue freezing.
  • Pour hot water over the bottom of the cup to remove popsicle.
